Li (Tsinghua) LENR Cell evaluation and reproduction


This is a proposal to replicate the 2003 Li (Tsinghua) LENR Cell, which reports up to 6W excess energy for 20W input.

It is made from: an electrolytic Deuterium gas supply, a container, a thin (0.1mm) disk of Palladium, a DC resistive heater, an optional calorimeter, and a Helium detector.

The expected outputs are heat, and helium.


The system might be leaky (and so produce a lower bound on results) but positive inside-to-outside positive pressure would reduce the possibility of contamination.

Robust controls, using various isotope signatures, could eliminate all sources of contamination.

The proposed initial version will use a 3D printed, high-temperature plastic (eg PEEK) which has good Hydrogen retention and thermal properties.

The operating cost is mainly for heavy water, at about 1g ($1) per hour. 7/4/2026
